09 Mar Spelt buns with sun-dried tomatoes – healthy wholemeal baking
Fresh buns, who doesn’t love them? The best are warm, fluffy and fresh, eaten just after removing from the oven. Unfortunately, the truth is that it’s very difficult to find good quality baked goods in bakeries. They are charged with unnecessary extras, preservatives and enhancers. How is it that bread from the shop retains its texture, taste and shape for a very long time? Also, don’t trust the color of bread, dark color not necessary means that the bread is wholemeal. So it is better to bake your own buns and bread and make sure that you know what you eat.


These buns are very simple to bake. To preapre them I used instant dry yeast, which are super easy to use. Buns are delicate, delicious and almost melt in your mouth. You don’t need many ingredients, probably you have everything in your kitchen. If you like sun-dried tomatoes, you will be crazy about this recipe! They taste great with additions and toppings, but also alone as they are. You can also use them for homemade burgers. Healthy burgers! Because the composition of macronutreins is perfect. Wholesome carbohydrates and healthy fats is a recipe for success.

- 400g spelt flour
- 7g dry instant yeast
- 200ml warm water
- 70g dried tomatoes in oil, chopped
- 60g oil from tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- ½ seaspoon of salt
- Sift flour and mix carefully with yeast. Add warm water and all remaining ingredients, mix well. Cover with clean kitchen towel and set aside in warm place for 1 hour to raise. After this time mix the dough quickly and form buns. Set aside for 15 minutes to raise a bit and then bake in oven keated up to 200C for 15 minutes. Then reduce temperature to 190C and bake for next 20 minutes. And your buns are ready!
